Just before Xmas 2008, Ruth flew to Wellington.   She was picked up by her sister Marion.   Marion drove them to her home at Masterton where the family was gathering for Christmas.

Ruth was due to return to Christchurch on the 2nd January.   However, a few days after Christmas, after her mother had returned to New Plymouth, her mother had a heart attack.  She was admitted to hospital.

Instead of returning on the due date, Marion and Ruth drove to New Plymouth.  Marion returned home and Ruth stayed about a week longer.  She stayed by herself in her mothers house.
