Nerollie's 60th Birthday Party

Mothers Day 2010

This year was on the 9th May. At 2-30 pm, as arranged weeks ago, we met John and Dorothy at the Restaurant at the Garden Hotel in Marshlands Road. Devonshire tea had been advertised for ten dollars per couple and we had booked it prior to my recent trip to Auckland. We enjoyed our hour an a half enjoying the tea / coffee and scons with raspberry jam and crea.

I took four pics and they can be seen here. With us and John and Dorothy M.

Lunch at Tai Tapu Hotel

On the 8th May 2010 Brenda and Paul passed through Christchurch on their return trip to New Plymouth. Paul had been working on an aeroplane at Timaru. Ruth Andrew and I had lunch with them at the Tai Tapu Hotel. Wenlin could not come as she is in Fiji on a business trip. Here are the pics (only 3).

I am going back a bit here. About 2007 Ruth and I celebrated her birthday in the Tram Restaurant. Win 7 does not want to tell me the date of the pics - it does not seem to appear in the xif data. Any way, here they are.

Wellington to Lyttelton Yacht Race 1953

In 1951, there was a yacht race between Wellington and Lyttelton. A storm occurred which endangered the yachts and there were losses. Our relative, Arch Childs, father of Bruce, Judith and John, who appear regularly on this web site was on the rescue, on the fishing vessel "Tarawera". Here is the professional account. The rescue vessel Arch was on, was owned by George Brassel, a well known boatie of Lyttelton. I had the pleasure of working with his son Charles (Charlie) in the Police in the early seventies.
